A Love Letter

Do you know the feeling?

There are places you return to again and again. Not because the change – but because the change you.

Liguria, for me, is not only a place of art and sea views.

It is a feeling.!

ALBISOLA – Where Clay Comes to Life

Albisola is not just a seaside town in Italy. It is a place where ceramics are soul and tradition. Here, Asger Jorn created some of his most powerful ceramic works at the historic Ceramiche San Giorgio atelier.

One of the highlights is visiting his former home – a place that still breathes creativity, color, and stories from another era. Each time I return to this corner of Italy, I fall in love all over again. Not with the spectacular – but with the simple, the authentic, and the alive. As the romantic and aesthete that I am, I have once again joyfully stored these familiar impressions in my heart.

My family and I visiting an artist friend and his dauther in the Atelier / 2008

“I have returned to Ceramiche San Giorgio many times with family and friends.”

” I had the privilege of meeting Master Giovanni Poggi  – The founder and one of the driving forces of the atelier. A man who lived and breathed art, and hosted lots of great artists in his time,  he left an unforgettable mark on everyone who crossed his path.”

Poggi showed me where Asger Jorn  in 1959, worked in his rough backyard, on the creation of the 27 metre long and 3-metre high ceramic art relief – which can still be seen at Aarhus Statsgymnasium.”

A HIDDEN GEM

“Just a short drive away, in the neighboring town of Savona, you’ll find  – a restaurant that doesn’t reveal much from the outside. But step inside, and you enter an oasis: art on the walls, warmth in the atmosphere, and love on every plate. It is a place where time seems to pause, and where each dish tells its own story.”
